The Central Banks of the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran discussed perspectives of organizing trade involving currency pair Russian ruble/Iranian rial
According to the report published by the Central Bank of Russia, during the meeting on 28.03.2017 Governor of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Ms. Elvira Nabiullina and Governor of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Valiollah Seif positively estimated the current level of cooperation in financial and banking sector.
Both parties emphasized elevation of use of national currencies when performing settlements under foreign trade contracts. Besides, the governors negotiated some definite issues pertaining to interoperability of national card payment systems, as well as perspectives of organizing trade involving currency pair Russian ruble/Iranian rial.
Official announcement made by the Central Bank of Russia states as follows: “Governors of both Central Banks accentuated importance of the activity performed by the workforce in the area of financial and banking collaboration of standing Russian-Iranian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, efficient and vigorous activity of which significantly contributes to the development of business relations between the commercial banks of two countries”.
